Here are some of my key takeaways from the Pittsburg Together Again Convention!

• National PTA is more than a non-profit, it’s a community!

  • As the only person from Maine, was alternatingly “adopted” by Mass., Ohio, Arizona, South and North Dakota... and so many others.

  • I made tons of contacts with amazing people eager to share their time and wisdom to help us strengthen our foundation and grow.

  • Needs and perspectives vary, but we are united by one mission: To make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

• Conventions are jam-packed with great ideas and tools to help us better serve students across Maine. Some I’m considering:

  • Holding regular monthly “office hours” for local PTAs to ask questions, share ideas, or just socialize with other PTA peeps! 

  • Working with local units and businesses to hold a (quarterly) event in a different region across Maine to promote both local and State PTA.
